Do you remember the Gaumonr?

In 1911 the original skating rink on Park Road East was converted into the Electric Palace Cinema. Some Years Later it was renamed The Park before closing in 1937. In 1938 the much larger Gaumont opened which ran until its closure in 1964. The Building then became a bingo hall, famously opened by Tommy Trinder, and still later became a snooker hall until the 1990's. It is now home to Furniture World.

Furniture World

Furniture World is an independent family-run business which has been established in Birkenhead for 13 years. The converted cinema building now has four floors to create a large selection of 50+ suites, dining collections and bedroom furniture from British manufacturers including Kevin France, Buoyant, Ideal, LaZboy and Caxton as well as high street Brands. We also supply furniture for hotels, landlords and Nursing Homes to CRIB5 standard.

Furniture World is situated opposite Birkenhead Park on Park Road East where there is plenty of easy parking on the park side of the road close by. Our Friendly staff are ready to answer enquiries and assist you wherever possible with no obligation.
